Oracle Plugin Quick Setup
The following easy 7 steps are necessary to setup the SiteMaestro Oracle plugin. If you need additional help installing, configuring, or using this product, please contact Technical Support



  Browse the Agent
If your web browser is not currently displaying the agent web interface, open your browser and enter "http://localhost:8080/" in the location or address field and press the Enter key.



  Goto the Configuration Web Page
In the gray menu area on the left, click the link followed by the link. This will place you into the configuration section.



  Add the Oracle plugin
Add the name of the oracle plugin library in the Add Plugin File(s) field.


These plugin files are located in the plugins subdirectory of your installation. The correct plugin file name can be determined below.
Note: The version of the Oracle client installed on the same machine as the Oracle plugin that is the determining factor, not the server being monitored.

Click the button when finished.



  Set ORACLE_HOME
The environment variable ORACLE_HOME must be set in the system environment.

For UNIX, edit the SiteMaestro init script located at /etc/init.d/sitemaestro. At the top, set the environement variable as shown below:


For Windows, edit the system environment in My Computer/Advanced/Environment Variables as shown below:




  Restart the Agent
The Agent must be restarted when new plugins are specified. This is the only time that the Agent must be restarted after a configuration change.

For UNIX, type the following as root:
/etc/init.d/sitemaestro stop
/etc/init.d/sitemaestro start


For Windows, open the Services applet in the Control Panel, select the SiteMaestro Agent, and click the Restart button as shown below:



  Add a New Instance of The Oracle8 Scanner
Browse to the Agent again. In the gray menu area on the left, click the link followed by the link followed by .
This will place you into the scanner configuration section. In the Plugins section click the Add New link.
Select Oracle8 from the drop down list. Note:All versions of the plugin report this scan type because they all support the Oracle8+ data dictionary schema. Finally, configure the Oracle8 specific settings (i.e. connection info) at the bottom of the page as shown below:


Click the button when finished.



  Save Your Changes
Click on the "Save" link to save your pending changes.



Congratulations!
The SiteMaestro Agent will now display the status of your Oracle instance. You can now view the instance data and configure alarms. You're covered - Thats all there is to it.
